Our original train was a C.P. Huntington 1863 replica steam engine which was installed in 1972. The track gauge is 2 feet with approximately 1 mile of track. Today we have a similar model engine, owned by Star Amusement Company that runs on the original tracks. The train has 3 cars that hold up to 15 passengers each and has one wheel chair accessible cart available on request. **The train will be closed during the winter season (Nov. 1-Feb. 28)**

Want a fun souvenir of your trip to the zoo? An educational, animal-inspired game or book for the kids? Forgot your sunscreen or towel for while you play on the Splash Pad? Plus, Jackson Zoo and other reciprocating members receive a 10% discount on most items.

Like the rhino barn, kookaburra exhibit, and the Castle, the Elephant House Cafe is one of the oldest standing structures in the zoo, and registered as a landmark. Completely re-purposed decades ago, are so proud to welcome BACK YARD BURGERS to the Elephant House Cafe!

They are open daily 10 am – 3 pm, March-November.
