There are all sorts of jobs at the Jackson Zoo, from keepers to cafe, educators to events. Full time AmeriCorps member position with the Jackson Zoo Education Department. Teach various education programs, on and off grounds including Zoo Mobiles, Wild Classrooms, and animal encounters. Develop, lead, and evaluate these programs.
Guest Services Department
The rides operator runs and supervises the rides attractions at the zoo and may train other rides operators.
This position sell souvenirs at various merchandise locations throughout the zoo and greet and introduce guests to the zoo experience at admission/ticket booths throughout the zoo.
Marketing and Events Department
- LESS THAN PART TIME (approximately 12 hours, must be available on weekends). Must be good with kids and adults, have solid Customer Service and/or Educational background. animal care Department
Responsible for caring for the animals and facilities in selected areas of the zoo. Work involves the responsibility for the care of all taxa and the maintenance of sanitary conditions of buildings, grounds and enclosures.
VOLUNTEER AND INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
There are many areas of the zoo where volunteers are needed: landscaping, facilities, education, special events, and Discovery Zoo. Although most often people think of spring and summer volunteering, there are some opportunities throughout the year. (There are even a few paid internships available for qualified candidates through the MS Department of Employment Security.)
