A zoo educator will lead your class around the zoo, making stops at animal exhibits that illustrate program themes. The zoo educator will give insights on the animals, share biofacts and engage students in simple activities. Each tour lasts about one hour and is designed for groups of 30 students or less.
Take your class for a walk on the wild side to learn about endangered animals from around the world and right here in Mississippi. Learn what the words extinct, endangered and rare mean and understand what causes animals to become threatened. Your class will explore suggestions for ways that they can help endangered animal.
This tour will focus on both the Zoo’s fiercest and most timid animals. Your class will visit the Zoo to learn about predator and prey animals and how they fit into an ecosystem’s food chain. Students will explore some of the wild ways that predators hunt for food and prey avoid becoming someone else’s lunch. They will learn about adaptations that animals have that help them survive in their habitat.
Come monkey around with us as we visit our closest cousins, the primates. We’ll compare ourselves to monkeys and apes, learn about their lives and understand how we can help save these most endangered group of mammals. Rest assured, it will be a barrel of fun!
Tours are available Monday – Friday 9:30 – 3:00. (Please call to schedule a time for your group).
Fee: $1.50 per person + admission fee for the day. One adult is free for every 10 students.
Zoo Admission: $2.50 per student
