Splash Pad and Lounge

Free with admission and membership

Cool off from the summer heat at the Jackson Zoo’s Splash Pad and lounge area! Kids bring your swimsuits & towels and play all day, or cool off after a trip around the zoo. Visitors receive free admission into the Splash Pad with general zoo admission. The Splash Pad is open from 9 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. Towels and goggles are available for purchase in the gift shop. Footwear MUST be worn by all children at all times, and swim diapers a required for all children under 2 years of age.

*Please note that NO GLASS OR FOOD are allowed in the Splash Pad or lounge area. Livingston Park (City of Jackson) has picnic tables and pavilion for public use on a first come, first served basis.

Endangered Species Carousel

$2.00 per ride

Visitors to the Jackson Zoo not only can see some exotic animals during their visit, but they can ride them as well! The Friends of the Jackson Zoo is proud to offer visitors the opportunity to ride such animals as a giraffe, a lion, an elephant, and our own native Mississippian, the catfish. Replica Steam Train at Livingston Park

$2.00 per ride, purchase tickets at Admissions

Our original train was a C.P. Huntington 1863 replica steam engine which was installed in 1972. The track gauge is 2 feet with approximately 1 mile of track. Today we have a similar model engine, owned by Star Amusement Company that runs on the original tracks. The train has 4 cars that hold up to 15 passengers each and has one wheel chair accessible cart available on request.

The Trading Company Gift Shop

Want a fun souvenir of your trip to the zoo? An educational, animal-inspired game or book for the kids? Forgot your sunscreen or towel for while you play on the Splash Pad? The Trading Company carries a wide range of items to commemorate your trip and also stocks practical items to make your visit more enjoyable. Plus, Jackson Zoo and other reciprocating members receive a 10% discount on most items.

 

The Elephant House Cafe

If you have a hankering for some great carnival fare, want to cool down with an icee, or need a sweet treat, the Elephant Cafe has what you need.

The Elephant House Cafe is open daily 9 a-4 p, March-November.
The Cafe is open weekends only during the month of December.

Kona Ice

Kona Ice of the Bayou will be on-site seasonally to offer zoo guests a unique shaved ice experience! Visit with Kona and experience a variety of flavors, mix-n-match, or create a flavor of your own! (weekends and special events TBD).

The Popcorn Place

Theater style, caramel, or sweet-flavored, keep an eye out for the yellow tent near the JSU Sumatran tigers on weekends and special events this summer!
