Endangered Species Carousel
Visitors to the Jackson Zoo not only can see some exotic animals during their visit, but they can ride them as well! The Friends of the Jackson Zoo is proud to offer visitors the opportunity to ride such animals as a giraffe, a lion, an elephant, and our own native Mississippian, the catfish. Read more about our unique attraction courtesy of The New Southern View!
The carousel is open daily and is only $2 a ride.
Replica Steam Train
Our original train was a C.P. Huntington 1863 replica steam engine which was installed in 1972. The track gauge is 2 feet with approximately 1 mile of track. Today we have a similar model engine, owned by Star Amusement Company that runs on the original tracks. The train has 4 cars that hold up to 15 passengers each and has one wheel chair accessible cart available on request.
The train is open daily and is only $2 a ride per person.
