Professional Animal Care (Zookeeper)
The Jackson Zoo Animal Care team is currently looking for a full time animal care specialist. This is a very physical position that requires weekends and holidays, teamwork, and a strong background in the biological sciences and animal care. Keepers are responsible for daily care of animals (diet preparation and feeding, exhibit and night house cleaning), plus general upkeep of space and greenery with the respect to the needs of the animal, as well as interaction with the general public in an educational capacity as needed. They are also highly encouraged to remain abreast of current accredited care protocols and the latest research from reputable educational facilities while taking direction from Animal Care supervisory staff. You must be able to lift 50 lbs or more, be on your feet for extended periods of time, and work various equipment during the day. The competitive hourly wage depends on experience level, and previous zoo or farm work is a plus. A Bachelors degree would be preferred, but all applicants at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent will be considered.

Zoo Ranger (Security)
Jackson Zoo Rangers are responsible for ensuring the security and safety of visitors, employees, volunteers, animals, and property of the Jackson Zoo. This is a physical position that requires flexibility, weekends and holidays, teamwork, and respect for humans and other living things. The competitive hourly wage depends on experience level. All applicants must be 21 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent.
