SPECIAL NOTE: The Jackson Zoo will be CLOSED TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC on SATURDAY AUGUST 14th, for the City of Jackson Employee Fun Day (city employees must receive wristbands at the Personnel Department before the day of the event).

We are looking to do a few projects this fall and need some extra hands!

1) Clean and paint stone tables near Admissions/Gift Shop (fun on a Saturday morning)

2) Clean (and probably paint) all the rocking chairs in the Mississippi Area (family fun on a Saturday morning)

3) *Clean and re-perch inside animal exhibits (this is a special, adults-only opportunity working with the zoo director, & special skills are requested)

We are looking for people that are interested so we can set up dates once everyone’s school schedules are back in swing. Go to the VOLUNTEER PAGE for more info and a sign up sheet.

Our small but dedicated staff of keepers work very hard to not only provide the level of care required daily, but make the extra time and effort to provide additional enrichment to the zoo animals. Oftentimes, their research leads them to ideas and activities that are not in the budget, so they use their own money and resources.

To relieve some of that cost, we put up the JZKeeper Support page, where keeper fans can purchase and donate directly from the JZ Keeper Amazon Wish List, or send digital gift cards through GiftCard.com or Amazon, that donate towards the cost of certain specific items for the animals or keeper care needs.

Any questions can be directed to JZKeepers, or calling 769-246-7747.

Do you like working with animals? Do you have animal care or husbandry experience? Are you a master of details and schedules? Do you like working weekends and holidays? Do you like experiencing all types of weather? Can you stand and walk for long periods and lift 50 lbs? Are you 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED?
