Happy Birthday, Eko!
In 2014, the Jackson Zoo animal care staff was delighted with the birth of Eko, son of Sari and Emerson, as part of the #SumatranTiger Species Survival Plan.
In honor of his 8th birthday, JZKeepers have prepared a special treat for him, which will be put out some time the morning and visible to visitors for as long as it lasts. (Of course, it’s more for humans than him… there is no way of knowing if animals have any concept of “birthdays,” but it’s a fun reason for extra enrichment for both Eko and his mom, Sari!)
Tickets are on sale every day until 3 p.m., and the animals “go to bed” at 4, and you can use credit or debit online at our online shop. (The Admission window is cash only right now.) It’s $8 for ages 13 and up, $5 for ages 2-12 years, and kids under 2 are free. The Splash Pad is included with admission, rides on the Endangered Species Carousel are $2, and you can beat the heat purchasing from Hot Diggity Dog, Dippin Dots, and Pepsi near the cafe.

Splash Pad Is OPEN!
Don’t forget to grab your swimsuits, shower shoes or sneakers (no flip flops or shoes with buckles, please), towels, swim diapers, and SUNSCREEN when you leave the house! The kids (and grown-ups, too!) can jump into puddles and stand under the spray in our Splash Pad! Open daily – weather permitting – during zoo hours and free with admission. **Remember that to keep the pad clean and free of bugs, coolers/outside foods are not allowed. Any picnicking can be done over in Livingston Park.

Play Day at the Jackson Zoo 06/04/2022
We are really excited about adding the Splash Pad to the list of activities going on during PLAY DAY AT THE JACKSON ZOO on Saturday June 4th! Not only will the JZKeepers be doing animal enrichment and Keeper Chats during the event, but each child will receive a free carousel ride, use of the inflatables, and get to “play” with the experts from Compound Fitness, The Club at St. Dominic’s, Boxer’s Rebellion, Trey Crake’s Academy of Kung Fu, and the Madison County Library System!
Don’t forget to collect your empty aluminum cans for the JZKeepers, as well as bagged or boxed used clothing and household textiles to donate to the JZKeeper AAZK Chapter enrichment fund! Get details on all items accepted HERE.
Advance tickets with debit or credit are already available on the online shop, or listen in to your favorite local radio stations to win free admission! Thank you to Kixie – 99Jams – Mix 98.7 – US 96.3 – Y101 – WYAB – Magic 104 – B92 – and MPB!

They The Jackson Zoo is home to over 200 animals, representing more than 70 species, of which 10 are listed on the International Union of Conservation of Nature – or IUCN – endangered species list.
Visit us this weekend and pay close attention to the IUCN notes at each exhibit (or our Animal Collection web page) to learn more about which animals are in danger of disappearing from our planet forever. Then research ways you can help keep it from happening.
The Jackson Zoo is looking for donors and sponsors to make our 2022 events even better for our visitors. If you can help, please call (769-246-7747) or email Ms. EJ to see if you can assist with one of the fun events we are planning in the coming months! THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING YOUR JACKSON ZOO!
