Jackson Zoo welcomes the JZKeepers AAZK Chapter!

Our small but dedicated band of JZKeepers has recently been officially accepted as a chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers!

Being a part of this non-profit allows the keepers to raise money for additional enrichment and supplies for our zoo animals (which they often pay for themselves). It also helps with funding conservation projects locally (recycling and wildlife programs in the area) and internationally (Bowling for Rhinos).

PLUS it gives the animal care staff here access to training tools and services in connection with the nearly 5,000 other professional zoo keepers in the US. Check them out online at JZKeepers.com (still under development) or on Facebook.com/JZKeepersAAZKChapter.

ENRICHMENT: To increase value or quality by the addition or increase of some desirable quality, attribute, or ingredient.

ANIMAL ENRICHMENT: To introduce new scents, objects, or food inside exhibits in order to stimulate natural behaviors and keep animals positively engaged.

DID YOU KNOW: when you visit the zoo, you are getting enrichment, and the animals get enrichment from you!
