JZ Discovery Team at MS Capital City Pride Event Saturday 10/2

Join the JZ Discovery team this Saturday, October 2nd, at Smith Wills Stadium! We will be hanging out with MS Capital City Pride at their City with Pride 2021 Festival!

We will be on grounds from 10 am to noon with some of our Discovery reptiles, talking about their importance and how much we need them in our world. Every animal is beautiful and has a purpose in the environment, and understanding their role leads to more rewarding interactions!

The activities at Smith Wills are free, so stop by and have the kids take a fun lesson in Scouting Snakes from 10 am to noon!

Thanks to AmeriCorps NCCC

We always love it when AmeriCorps NCCC can fit us into their service schedule, and this latest visit – as usual – helped our staff tremendously!

They completely cleaned off the African Forest Boardwalk, re-perched some of the feline exhibits under Director Dave, and helped JZKeeper Alex behind the scenes at Spider Monkeys.

It’s always refreshing to get a group of energetic young adults from all over the US to help cross some more challenging items off our To Do List.

We salute to these young leaders and are already thinking of the next projects they can tackle at their next visit!Keep an eye on the Jackson Zoo Crew Volunteer page for more opportunities soon!

JZKeeper Support

How do we keep animals active and engaged? It’s called enrichment, and it’s one of the most important parts of animal care.

To help our hardworking keepers, we put up the JZKeeper Support page, where keeper fans can select several ways to help the keepers go that extra mile for the zoo animals! Any questions can be directed by email to JZKeepers, or by calling 769-246-7747.
